ERS
Is there an age limit for participants?
There is no age limit for programme participants.

Do participants need to be students in their home country?
Participants do not need to be students. Our programmes are open to everyone.

Does ERS organize exchanges with other organizations?
ERS does not organize exchanges at this time. Our focus is on hosting individuals and groups.

How long has ERS been hosting international individuals/groups?
ERS has been hosting international programmes/groups since 1997. Close to 1,000 individuals have participated with ERS since that time.

Are prices the same regardless of the number of participants?
Prices vary according to the number of participants in a group. The larger the group, the lower the price per participant.

While in Montreal, can the participants reach ERS coordinators at all times?
Yes. Participants have the ERS coordinators' telephone numbers and can reach them at all times.

Can participants remain in contact with ERS after the programme finishes?
Yes. Our coordinators are still in contact with many past participants.

Work Placement
Does ERS find the work placement (stage) for participants?
Yes. ERS finds the work placement for the participants.

Does ERS charge for finding work placements (stages) for participants?
The charge for finding the work placements is included in the ERS fee.

Will I be paid for my work placement?
Due to Canadian work visa limitations, work placements are non-remunerated. Training visas, however, are possible and allow ERS to acquire excellent work training placements.

How long is the typical work placement (stage)?
Experience has shown that successful work placements require a minimum duration of six weeks. However, ERS is open to providing a length of work placement that meets the needs of all participants.

Are the participants permitted to change work placements (stages) in the event of difficulties?
Yes. See the Work Placement page for details.

Can work placements (stages) start any time of the year?
Yes. However, certain months or timeframes are more favorable than others.

Are work placements (stages) full time?
ERS strives to accommodate participants' needs with work placements normally being five days per week. However, shorter work placement weeks are possible depending on programme/participant requirements.

Accommodation
Do participants have a choice of English or French host families?
Yes. Most of our families are English, French or bilingual.

Are meals included in the accommodations?
All meals are included in host family accommodations.

Is there a minimum number of participants required for apartment accommodation?
No. A wide variety of accommodation is available, including studio apartments for one or two people, or two-bedroom apartments that can accommodate up to four people.

Other
Does ERS take care of obtaining the visa, insurance and airline tickets?
No. It is the responsibility of the overseas organization and/or the participants to ensure that all the requirements are met with regards to obtaining the visa, airline reservations and tickets, as well as adequate health and travel insurance prior to participants' arrival in Montreal.

Upon arrival, does an ERS representative meet the participants?
Yes. An ERS coordinator meets the participants at the airport upon their arrival and accompanies them to the airport for their departure.

Is local transportation included in the price during participants' stay in Montreal?
No. It is up to the participants to obtain, upon their arrival, a weekly or monthly public transportation pass for travel on the train, metro and bus.
